Crappy:
Garage door spring snapped, trapping the van inside the garage, discovered when all kids were in the car ready to go get dinner.
Happy:
My dad helped to lift the HEAVY door to get the van out so we could actually drive somewhere.
Crappy:
I was taking pics of Haylie and accidentally broke my favorite lens (50mm/1.8).
Happy:
Got some cute pics and ordered a new lens which should arrive on my doorstep next Monday.
Crappy:
I didn’t get to go on a 30th birthday trip with my friends last weekend.
Happy:
I got to see my daughter wake up with excitement on the morning of her 3rd birthday and have delightful birthday celebrations all Saturday. Pink galore. And hear Brandon say “You’re the best mom. You plan fun parties.”
Crappy:
My dear laptop is sickly and pretty much out of commission at the moment. I miss my fonts. I miss my Photoshop Elements 4.0. And that’s part of the reason why I’m behind on my blogging of pictures and events in our lives lately.
Happy:
We have a lovely desktop computer. With an actual comfy office chair to sit in. And a printer attached. And luckily all of my photos and digital scrapbooking paraphernalia on a spacious portable external hard drive. And although I don’t yet have my cute fonts installed, we do have ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS4 in da house (courtesy of Jaden’s job)! Yes, I squealed and hooray-ed with joy. Actually, I still am. What’s funny and extremely odd is that the song “A Whole New World” has been stuck in my head since I first opened it up. I’m dead serious. And it really is a whole new world that I’m trying to learn. Why am I telling everyone this? Who knows. But I am definitely excited about it. (Kirsten, one word–ACTIONS!!) But I’m still mourning the potential loss (and cost) of my dying laptop. We’ve had some fun times together.
Happy:
My mom came over today, I did some shopping for certain holidays coming up, we planted bright red tulip bulbs and sunny yellow daffodil bulbs in the front yard. Loved just tucking them into their little dirt beds and can’t wait to see them in the spring. And then we had the delicious Herb Crusted Salmon Salad which definitely causes happiness.
Happy:
The Primary Program was on Sunday. Brandon did well and it was all adorable.
Happy:
Beautiful weather all week.
Happy:
Love notes from Brandon. Squeezes from Annie. Huge smiles from Haylie. Smooches from Jaden. Wonderful support from our parents and families all of the time.
Happy:
Right now, I’m just feeling lucky to have my family and all of our blessings, trying to be optimistic and faithful in the scary times we live in, trying to enjoy the little things. Crappy things happen. But I realize again and again that the happy things really do outweigh the crappy things. I need to remember that.

You are always so clever! What a week!! Thank goodness for loving/ caring parents! It IS good to remember that the happy moments out weigh the crappy, but not always easy.
P.S. I received a comment from Shane Power’s wife today. They have a darling family- you should check out their blog. Info. is in the comments from our Maui trip.
I love how you started with crappy, happy, crappy, happy, and then eventually it went into happy, happy, happy, happy, happy… It definitely shows your optimistic personality and part of why you have such a bright countenance!
I love that you “hooray-ed”! that’s my new favorite word. I’m so sad that your laptop is sickly…maybe Santa will bring you a new healthy one for your b-day/Christmas. We need to catch up. We brought you a little surprise all the way from Phoenix. When can we get together?? Do you have a “person” that schedules your life these days? Tell her to pencil me in…SOON!
I agree with Emilee . . . you are so clever! I’m sorry you had crappy days this week, but thanks for reminding me that there’s always a “happy” side too. We just got CS4 too, so we’ll have to learn that “Whole New World” together!
Just wanted to stop in and say I love your blog. I don’t remember how I found it, but I am happy I did. When I need to smile, I find myself coming here, looking at your photos, reading your posts and my spirits are lifted. You take such wonderful photos. I also wanted to let you know that you have an award on my blog.
I have another one. Crappy:having tuesday playdate at your house this week. Happy:eating a chocolate turkey for lunch. This was very clever. I should try this post just to remind me of the happy things.
Ash, yes that should also be added to the list, thank you! And that chocolate turkey was delicious. I think we’ll have chocolate turkey for Thanksgiving.
Thanks for the award, CuddleBeez!
what a fun little thankful post! it really is the little things that make us so happy… if we just remember to slow down & appreciate them. love it!

You are so great brooke.
HAPPY ALWAYS OUTWEIGHS THE CRAPPY! Even when we think it doesn’t!
Curious…are you a Twilight fan? You seem like the type to be sleeping outside for tickets but I could be wrong. Random thought cause I’ve been talking about it all morning with my girlfriends at the gym!
cute, cute. well, the crappy stuff isn’t really “cute.” but the rest is.
You are a wonderful digi scrapper!!! I am going to start following your family adventure. Beautiful photography of your children. You are good!
I love your happy attitude, Brooke! You make bites and toots seem like the most wonderful thing in the world!
I about died when I heard you broke your lens! I am glad you’re getting a new one! I still, have to figure out how to even USE the camera!
