This morning we did our morning stuff, ate, played, did homework, got ready, went on a hunt to find Jaden’s cell phone, crawled over laundry that needs to be put away, etc. We were heading out the door to the bus stop when the bus drove by! I didn’t realize that we were running a tad late. I took off running (not a pretty sight, mind you) with Brandon and Annie trying to keep up….and we missed the bus!! It was like in the movies: the bus is pulling away, I’m chasing after it yelling. Yep. I sure hope nobody was looking out their windows at that precise moment. Plus, I DID NOT want to have to drive Brandon to school. So I whisked the kids into the van faster than ever before, drove CAREFULLY but quickly to the 3rd bus stop in our neighborhood….I may or may not have peeled out of my driveway, leaving a patch. It was a big adventure! And happy to say, we BARELY made it as the bus was pulling up to the stop, with the moms there cheering for us that we made it. Brandon got to the bus just in time. I was still huffing and puffing in the driver’s seat of the van. Quite the exciting moment.
Then, thanks to a tip from Shorty, the girls and I headed up for an impromptu trip to the outlets in PC. Word was that The Children’s Place was having a sweet sale and I couldn’t miss it. So we did some shopping (hello, 50% off the clearance prices! GO!) and got a load of stuff. Ran into several cute people I know, even made a new friend…it was great!!! And Annie may or may not have eaten an M&M off the grody floor.
We made it home barely in time for Brandon to get off the bus.
Ate dinner, hopped in the van (kids in their jammies and blankies) for a family drive up by the new temple. I saw some deer. I also saw approximately one tree that had turned red. I also saw snow.
Came home, put kids to bed and watched Chuck on the DVR. How I love the DVR.
What a day.

LOL. I love how you described the trip to PC…the ‘grody’ floor and the cashier who is yet to be determined as a man or a woman…and my favorite…’i’m just sayin’. LOL.
Looks like a BUSY, adventurous day!
You’re just too funny, and you so brought back memories of Maybel and I chasing the bus down halfway to school…it was so quick that we may or may not having been wearing seat belts!
Sounds like a very busy, yet totally fun day!
You always make me laugh, thanks!! Is the sale still going on?? Winter or Summer clothes??
Brooke you make me smile! That is all I can say! I read your post, and a smile came to my face. I think my favorite parts were
1- imagining you running after the bus
2- the clerk who is male and or maybe female….”just sayin” lol..
sounds like a fun day! I love impromptu trips to the outlets! Glad you found some good deals!
Last year, we were running late to drop Tyler off for his first ever bus ride for a field trip to the zoo. I was driving like a MAD woman, and as I turned the corner to the school, saw the first bus pulling out. So I revved it, pulled my Explorer in front of the other bus, jumped out with my hands in the air and yelled “STOP THIS BUS!”
WHAT THE!!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?!?! Risked many lives and limbs, but darn it all, he made it on that bus! Can so relate to the funny, slightly hysterical frenzy that your story evoked! Hilarious Brooke!
What a busy day you had. We almost missed the bus yesterday also. It was a crazy morning at our house. We haven’t watched Chuck yet. I can’t wait. I love that guy!
You are so funny, I think it was a man, but I can kinda see the confusion there It was fun to see you, hope you got some cute stuff!
You are way too creative and crafty by the way, how do you find the time, you are awesome, love all the projects you have been working, you go girl!
I am laughing, picturing the whole thing . . . all the kids on the bus wondering who the crazy mom is that’s running after it, waving her arms and yelling! :o) Glad you made the other stop! Some days are just like that, huh?
Like Katie, I love picturing you running after the bus. Funny! Sounds like you scored at Children’s Place – nice work! And, sometimes I wonder if I could function in life without my DVR. How sad is that?
It is not even fun to be the 11th commentor. Everyone already took the good comments. So, ditto to all that, except I have never had to run or drive to catch a bus for a kid. I have however taken more buses than the average Utahn. I lived in NY and was on the bus everyday for 18 months. That was a little bit the pits. HEY…I guess that means I have ran for a bus in knee-high nylons, a frumpy skirt, so too long hair that I wouldn’t let a Bronxite cut for 18 months, and often no makeup. How’s that for a picture in your head? I am sure I beat you on sillyness. Those Bronx people don’t turn their heads for much. They’ve seen it all, but they sure do turn for a whitey missionary like myself in a skirt. Whew. Walk down memory lane.
Go mom go!!!
I know exactly who you were talking about….man/woman at the counter. I wasn’t sure myself, but he/she is always nice and helpful when it takes me an hour to check out. You are goofy you little naughty!!!
