Zoo Day
by Brooke on February 27, 2008
The last day or so has been sunny and warm-ish (above 45 degrees is like a heat wave to us at this point in the winter!!) so we’ve enjoyed being outside!! The kids are happy, I’m happier with the fresh air…can’t wait for “real” spring to be here soon. We spent over an hour at the park in our neighborhood yesterday evening and it just felt good to let the kids run around, socialize a bit with little friends….ahhhhhh….
Today was “Free Day” at the zoo so we along with everybody else in the entire state headed up to the zoo. What a gorgeous day it was. Felt awesome to leave the coats behind. I took along my camera and took a few pics.
The white alligator was pretty cool. It was totally hot and humid in the building, though. Brandon’s glasses completely fogged up and he couldn’t see a thing!
I felt like we were back in Cancun where it was so humid you could hardly breathe.
I loved these little monkeys!! Look how they’re snuggled together and how their little tails are intertwined! I thought it was adorable. But the smell, oh the smell in the monkey habitat…..ugh.
More animals we visited:
A purty flower…
More animals….ha ha, just kidding. The kids had fun running around the playground there, not caring about the slushy snow everywhere. Annie ate a handful of brown snow. I almost puked.
Gotta love the attempted group shots where you make a fool out of yourself trying to get everyone to look. And of course mine are the ones who don’t look.
I especially love this one. So typical.
It was totally crazy at the zoo but lots of fun! I was exhausted when we got home because that zoo has steep hills everywhere–imagine this very-pregnant girl pushing a toddler in a stroller up a monstrous hill. It was slow-going. Not a pretty sight. Oh well, it was worth it.
Looking forward to the nice weather these next few days, hooray!!!!!

Your pictures turned out way cute, as always. I borrowed one of them…hope that’s okay! I really like that first one of Brandon.
Darn, hadn’t heard about free zoo day. Those are cute pics…I too am lovin’ the green/yellow grass that is now peeping out from under the dirty snow. YEA FOR SPRING….and not a moment too soon.
That was fun! Of course not one of my pictures turned out half decent, I have way too many of the back of Scott’s head! I think the fresh air is great therapy!
It’s so nice to spend time outside with kids. I love the zoo. As always, you got some great pictures. My favorite is the one where the kids are looking everywhere but at the camera!
Looks like a fun day at the zoo! Glad you’re getting a reprieve from the snow.
“Annie ate a handful of brown snow. I almost puked.” HILARIOUS! I can just picture it! What a fun day and darling kids!
Fun day. I didn’t even know about free zoo day.
You just won “Super Mom of the Day.” Again! Rats! Way to go.
Looks like I fun day! Great pictures. Funny how we think that there’s a heat wave or something, just cause it’s not snowing!!
looks like the kiddos had a great time at the zoo!!
And I’m soooo sad that we missed the big fondue night morning sickness is no fun!!! Sounds like it was fun though
Hey, it’s Gina’s sis. Sorry I can’t help myself but to comment. Your pictures are absolutely adorable. I only wish I had the know-how and the talent to do what you do!
