ValentiMe’s Goodies

by Brooke on January 30, 2008

I have been feeling a bit crafty lately and have had fun doing some little Valentine’s Day projects. Don’t ask me why. And we like to call it ValentiMe’s, just to be silly. And now I will share some ValentiMe ideas with you.

Fun ValentiMe’s Day Ideas

I made these EASY photo tiles!

{I used the new Valentine digital kit at http://www.ggdigitaldesigns.com/ .}

Here’s what you need–it’s really simple and makes a cute gift or decoration for your home.

**whatever size of tile you want (the ones I made were 4.5 x 4.5 inches, only like 13 cent cheapos from Home Depot)

**whatever photo or design you want (I made little mini digital layouts sized to fit a little smaller than the tile–I forgot to do exact measurements but it worked out just fine! Just go with the flow.)
**A bottle of Mod Podge (I used Matte finish but you could do glossy if it floats your boat.)

**brush
Here’s how to be all crafty with Mod Podge:

I printed my photos out and trimmed them. Then I “painted” a thin layer of Mod Podge on the tile, placed my photo where I wanted it to go, and let it dry for about 5 minutes (until it wasn’t sticky). Then I did another layer of Mod Podge over the top of the photo and let it dry completely. That’s seriously IT. I truly love how they turned out. :)

Pillow Boxes

Another really easy one, I used a project already done for you at http://www.ggdigitaldesigns.com . Just printed them, cut out the template, and folded and taped together. Voila. I will fill these with little ValentiMe goodies.

Oh! And I also made these Treat Bag Toppers.

Also using that darn cute Valentine kit from my girls at http://www.ggdigitaldesigns.com/. It fits any regular ol’ ziploc baggie, you just staple or tape the topper over the ugly zipper part and fill the baggie with treats. I have eaten all of these kisses, just so you know. I’ll have to remake them.

And last, but not least, I made Candy Bar Wrappers!! I told you I was having fun. I think I’m giving these to Brandon’s school teacher and the kids’ primary teachers.

Another really simple gift idea for this holiday of love. I made Brandon’s a bit more boyish with the reds and browns, and added pink and a little girlishness for Annie’s teachers. And again, I used various papers and embellishments from http://www.ggdigitaldesigns.com/. They are my product endorsement for the day. :) Printed them out, trimmed and used double-sided sticky tape to wrap around Hershey bars.

And I have a treat for you. I made the template!! And you can download it!! I’m sharing the love.

This will be good for 7 days or 100 downloads, whichever comes first.

Thanks for those who leave comments and thank-yous when they download, it’s just so nice. :)

If you need help with the digital aspect of the projects, check out the tips and tutorials at Digital Scrapbook Memories:

And with that, I’m done! Have a lovely day.

Wow! We’ve been on the same wavelength this week. We should have let our kids play while we played. :)

I love those tiles. I saw them on Leslie’s blog. Cute stuff! What kind of paper did you print the picture on before you mod-podged it?

Thanks for the wrapper download. I snatched it up!

A little bit, I am sick to my stomache at how crafty, cutesy, nesty, fabulousy you are. How do you do it? Seriously! I really do wonder how you do it. I nearly had a breakdown today deciding where to put some can lights in the basement while at the same time making a PBJ. You? You are out decorating the world for us. Thanks for showing me the way yet again.

I love the tiles! Would you mind telling me how you did the ribbon embellishment that looks like it is actually wrapped around the picture on the tile? Maybe I’m being dumb but I looked and looked and couldn’t figure it out!! And thanks for the template….I’m always up to try something new!

To spepper22:

I used a digital frame that is available at http://www.ggdigitaldesigns.com in the Schnookums kit. The ribbon is already wrapped around the frame, so it’s really easy! :) Hope that helps.

Brooke,
You are way so popular!!! These are way cute, maybe if I can find the time. I don’t know how you do it. I was looking at your photo inspiration and saw Pepper Nix. I went to Israel with her and one of the girls at a recent reunion told me to check out her website. She does do fabulous work, as do you.

How did you print your picture for your tiles? Is it on your local printer or thru a print store. Was the paper matte finish or glossy photo paper? I can’t wait to make these!
