Last week we went and saw the lights at Temple Square. The kids were really excited to ride on the “bullet train” (aka TRAX) all the way downtown.
Brandon took this picture of us, with my big ol’ heavy camera!
They each got their own map and Brandon helped keep track of the different stops we made.
As always, the lights were beautiful. My camera was being weird and Annie kept having little meltdowns (it was past her bedtime and she wouldn’t take a nap that day) but it was fun to see everything on Temple Square. In between her crying and runny nose, Annie did squeal about the pretty lights and the trees, and Brandon’s favorite thing were the water fountains.
The next night we had a great time going out to dinner with friends at the delicious Asian Star, celebrating some of our birthdays. Mark and Mary graciously presented Julie and I with faux-autographed portraits of Dick Nourse. (See their odd obsession with the retired newscaster here). It was a real treat, we laughed our heads off.

The gang–it was so fun to get away without our kids!! Hooray!!
Thanks you guys. He really was not a favorite around our house but the gesture was a sweet one.

I also had my Relief Society Christmas dinner, which was a lot of fun, did some Christmas shopping and went to the movie “Enchanted.” This weekend was also a good one for baking cookies with the kids……
and I got the bulk of our Christmas cards to the post office….
and a snowman was built by Jaden and Brandon.
We got so much done on Saturday while it snowed all day long–I made pancakes for breakfast, we finally finished all the Christmas decorating, did some organizing in the basement, etc. All in all, a pretty good week!
On the list for this coming week’s festivities: Polar Express for the kids (with Grandma and Grandpa) and Jaden’s work Christmas party, Jake’s birthday party, Ward Christmas party…and my birthday is coming up in a week!!!

You are putting me to shame! And you are pregnant. Not fair. You continually amaze me with your vigor for GO, GO, GO! Can I come spend next week with you?
your cookies look store bought! In a good way. Good thing you mentioned Jake’s birthday. He is bouncing off the walls here. 4 is a big deal I guess. One more thing to add to your to do list we are doing today…gingerbread houses. Sounds like you finally came out of your pregnancy funk.
You have kind of redeemed yourself from the ungratefulness you showed towards your bithday gift on Julie’s blog.
It is just so hard…my life seems so incomplete now. I don’t have a conclusion to my day any more. I miss him so bad.
Mark, all I said was that the picture was not prominently displayed in my house. There is no way I’m going to hang up a picture of Dick Nourse before I even hang up one of my family. 😉
And cheer up, Bruce Lindsay could be the one to change your life, you never know.
I want the picture back.
Cute pictures from Temple Square. I can’t believe all you have accomplished. The cards, the cookies, the decorating, the fun outings. Can I send my kids to be in your family for a few minutes so they’ll know what “real” mom’s do?
I love your pictures brooke! I never would’ve guess Annie was having meltdowns from her big cheezy grins in those pictures! Happy birthday ahead of time!
ok your pictures of temple square turned out way better than mine-you have a much better camera. it was fun to get together! by the way you look super cute in the picture of you and jaden on Trax!
What an eventful week you’ve had! I can’t believe how much you’re doing…AND your pregnant! Talk about energy, woman!! I love your temple square pictures. Did you use a flash?
I have to say, Dick Nourse rocks. Seriously, you should eBay that picture. I bet you could get a million dollars for it EASY!
Also, I got your Christmas card last week. It’s so cute, but then again, I knew it would be.
wow, sounds like a busy week – and that it might just be getting busier and busier. fun-busy, though, right? i hope!
WOW!!! Fun times!!! Hey, I need to get your address so I can send you a christmas card. Will you email it to me? Thanks Brookie!!!
I can’t belileve you went to Asian Star and did not invite me. That is one of my all time favorite places to eat. If you had walnut shrimp I don’t think we can be friends anymore.
