Catchy title, eh?
Yesterday was Brandon’s last day of preschool. It was kind of sad to say goodbye to little friends and to his great teachers, and knowing that he’s finished his very first year of school made me feel a little bit sentimental, I’ll admit it. It sure did go by quickly. I loved bringing home all of his projects and artwork and talking to him about the things he learned each day. Brandon’s grown up in so many ways since last fall. But then there’s the exciting feeling that summer is now officially beginning and the days are open and free. . .so we’re looking forward to lots of FUN!
I got a little bit crafty Monday night. Even dusted off the glue sticks, punches and scissors. For Brandon’s 2 teachers, I got them gift cards and then I made these little “pillow” boxes to hold the cards. Thanks for the idea, Katie! I used a digital kit by Katja Kromann–printed out the papers I wanted and used flower and tag punches along with sandpaper and string for the project. I thought they turned out pretty cute, kept it pretty simple. Brandon signed his name on the little tags and told me what message to write inside the gift cards, and helped punch out a few flowers. So here are the finished products.
So. An earthquake, you say?? You bet. On Monday night, after we got back from our trip to St. George, the kids were in bed, Jaden was watching the Jazz game, I was on my computer. Suddenly there was this really loud bangish boom and the house seriously MOVED. It was the strangest feeling. Weirdly enough, at first we both thought that Brandon had fallen out of his bed, but quickly realized that he is not big enough to cause THAT big of a rumble, enough to make the frames on the walls go crooked. Then we thought something had happened to the air conditioner unit outside. Come to find out the next day on the news –it was an earthquake! My first one. Granted, it was only a 2.3 on the Richter’s scale but we definitely felt it. I swear the house shifted. So, it was an eventful 2-3 seconds.
Now, onto “Mommy-brain Syndrome”. It is a well known phenomonon that many of us suffer from. I had a major episode last week. Oh, I’m so embarrassed to send this out into internet land. Last Thursday night I bathed Annie and got her jammies on. Read her a story, sang the ritual “night-night song” and put her to bed. When she woke up about 12 hours later, I went into her room to get her and was hit with a strong smell. Um, I had forgotten to put a diaper on her. OVERNIGHT. She was nearly swimming in her crib. Whoops! So I had to throw her into the tub at 7:30 am and do some immediate laundry. Please tell me someone else has done this before!!! We were laughing so hard. My mommy-brain has officially taken over my real brain, or what was left of it. In my lengthy 4.16 years of mommyhood, I have never done that. I can’t believe I did that!! I’m such a good mom. Ha!

I don’t know how many people I am going to tell the “Mommy-Brain Syndrome” story to, but I can gaurantee that you will NOT be able to count them on your fingers and toes.

Oh heavens…I am so sorry for the mommy-brain syndrome. You need to submit that Reader’s Digest or something. That experience deserves some serious reward money!
